Cool Boy

We went shopping today to find some shorts and stuff for Gabe and ran across this little dude!

How cool is my little man?!

2 Reasons to check on your kids after you put them to bed

1) In case your son has fallen asleep in the doorway.

2) In case your daughter is holding her baby's hand in her sleep.

How cute are they?!

Saturday Afternoon Puzzles

On Saturday afternoons, this is my favorite puzzle to do...

What's yours?

Schools out...for now

Today was the last day of VBS for Elle.  As a special treat, Daddy got to stay home with the kids today.  As part of Dad's adventure as a stay at home dad for the day, he and Gabe joined Elle for lunch at VBS.

We started the day with a nice climb up Mt. Graco Stroller.

Then Elle rested on the way to drop me off at work.

She has been worn out from VBS.  Again, thank you VBS.

The fun doesn't stop yet though.  I will be home with the kids ALL week next week.  We will have our own adventures.  Hopefully we will have nice weather.

Funny Elle Phrase Alert
We were sitting at the dinner table and Elle fake coughed a couple times.  She then turns to Kyle and I and says, "I have a bad cough. I need to neb."

(For those that don't know to "neb" is to use a nebulizer).

But the fun didn't stop there.  I asked her what she said and she repeated it.  Then I laughed.  This is where its really good.

After I laugh, Elle says...

"Mom, nebbing isn't funny."

And on that note, goodnight, I'll be here all week!

Day Four

Yesterday was day three.  From what I heard, it went well.  By the time I got home, she was asleep.

Today was day four and even though she isn't a princess this week, she wore a dress.

She got to bring home TWO, count 'em, TWO, crafts today!
She even got a sucker.

Tomorrow is the last day of VBS.  She has had so much fun I'm not sure how she'll handle not being able to go anymore.  We won't worry about that right now though.  She still gets another day.  And we get to watch tomorrow.

Day Two

On day two Elle said....

"Princesses don't go to Bible School so I'm not a princess because I want to go to Bible School."

Her majesty has stepped down from her thrown to join the commoners at Vacation Bible School.

At least the girls got her priorities straight.

The “First Day of School”

Today was Elle’s first day at Vacation Bible School (VBS) at Bethany Church…and what an interesting day it was.

She was exhausted when I woke her up this morning and showed signs of protesting when I reminded her that she got to go to VBS today.  She JUMPED out of bed.  I don’t know if I have EVER seen her that excited to get out of bed.

The next 30 minutes went well.  Got in the car.  Spilled only a small amount of coffee.  Got to Neterer’s.  Got Elle out of the car and comfortable with Sara.  Got back into the car and Gabe had HUGE alligator tears.  Apparently he thought Elle and I were leaving him in the car for the day.

Silly boy.

Then we began our trek to Eden Prairie, Mama being overly happy to perk Gabe up a bit.  By the time we got to our exit off of 212 onto Prairie Center Drive he was as right as rain (Name the movie).

About 5 stop lights down on Flying Cloud Drive I realized Gabe no longer had his monkey.  After asking Gabe many variations of “Where is your monkey?” or “Did you throw your monkey out the window?” and his reply resembling German, which I don’t speak, I came to the conclusion that it was somewhere between 212 and our current location.  My gut sank.

Mom math begins.  It will take me 5 more minutes to get Gabe to daycare.  5 minutes to get him in the door and settled.  I have to be to work by 8:15 at the absolute latest.  That means I have 15 minutes to drive around Eden Prairie and find a blue monkey (If two trains leave train stations 100 miles apart.  Train A is traveling at 5 MPH and train B is traveling 30 MPH, who will find the blue monkey first?).

I get back in my car and drive a little too fast back the way we came which conveniently enough, is back towards work; the whole time scanning the opposite side of the road for a small blue monkey.  I get all the way back to the exit ramp to get on 5 PRAYING the monkey wasn’t forced to attempted the flying monkey test on 212 (I was sure he made it off the freeway) when I spotted the little guy.

There, sitting in the middle of the road was the blue monkey!

The light turned green and I went as fast as I could through the light and into the tiny parking lot for the radio station that sits oh-so-quietly at the corned.  I jumped out of my car and TRIED to wait patiently for the light to turn red.

One, two cars came to a stop narrowly missing Banana-Spaghetti (the monkey).  A large, red SUV crept every so slowly and cautiously, it’s driver eyeing this crazy woman watching where his tires were going.

He stops.

I wave.

He acquired a confused look.

I run out into the street and present the only slightly dirty monkey as evidence of my crazy gimmick.

He chuckles.

I sheepishly run back to my car, elated that I have found my son’s lovie.

The world can end now and I’d die a happy Mama.

But that isn’t the end to this glorious day.  Oh no.

Banana-Spaghetti sat on my desk at work until I picked Elle up from daycare as a monument for what I accomplished before 8:15 this morning.

At 11:30 I went to pick Elle up from VBS.  She was exhausted!  She had SO much fun and was so tired she didn’t know what to do with her self.  Thank you to Michelle Winger, Sara Neterer, and the multitude of women that make VBS possible.  And thank you for running my child ragged.  She ran to me extremely happy to see me but dragging her feet the entire 5 feet to me.

The afternoon was one of the slowest I have ever experienced.  I was so excited to see my kids and hear of the adventures they had for the rest of the day.

Elle crawled in our bed when we got home and watched "Up", hardly moving.

Gabe ran around with only his diaper, and barely that, due to a nice diaper rash and was rather happy to be a naked little boy.

And Banana-Spaghetti…well he had a bath so that he could be properly cuddled in bed tonight.  After looking like this….

He needed some time in the tub.

Normally I'd take the tub time for myself, but with the day our family had today, I have so much love in my heart I have a love high.  I don't need a tub to relax.

Thank you Jesus.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day...on Sunday

To my dad for being my daddy and such an amazing Grandpa George.  You had big Grandpa George shoes to fill but I think your training as Crazy Uncle George properly prepared you.  Well done Papa George.  With out you, I would not have had the wisdom to select such an excellent Father for my children.

To Unc 'Cyn.  You have got to be the COOLEST Uncle EVER.  I mean you are Uncle LION.  And you can only be the coolest God-Father because you are the coolest Uncle.

To the Love of My Life.  Thank you...A million times over, Thank you!  You make our family of four amazing and I don't know what I would do with out you.  I am blessed daily to wake up next to you, laugh constantly with you, throw the kids around with you, and be overly silly with you.  Thank you for being such a great Dad to our kids, and sometimes even me, since we're both still kids at heart.

I love you ALL.

Sorry but this is all I can afford for Father's Day and it has cost me a bit of my eye sight.  But I love you all more than words can say!

Joyful Noise Family Fest 2010

It was wet and rainy and slightly chilly but we had fun!

Here are some pictures from our day (10AM-11PM) at the KTIS Joyful Noise Fest.

Thank you KTIS! We had a blast!

There was SOOO much to jump on and climb on...

And run through...

And crawl over...
And some GREAT music to CRASH too!
And LOTS and LOTS of smiles!

Despite the rain, we'll be back next year.

Two things.

First, Elle has started telling knock knock jokes.  It goes like this...
Knock knock
Who's there?
Cargo who?
Car goes beep beep.

Second, Gabe has acquired the skill of crawling out of his crib. That's all I'm going to say about that.

I'll post later about Joyful Noise Family Fest yesterday.  It was cold, wet and fun.

Chit Chat

Elle says scar-a-crow.  :)

She is also under the impression that Noah's full name is in fact Noah Ark.

Sometimes, after having a long week…

When your 1 ½ your old son points at EVERYTHING out the window on the way to daycare, it makes you smile

When you almost get tackled by your kids coming through the door after a long day at work, you want to fall down and let them tickle you…even though it’s a hard wood floor

When a friend does something you don’t expect, you almost cry at your desk at work out of pure appreciation

When some one you didn’t really know can place you after almost 10 years, you don’t feel quite so invisible

When you put your “baby” boy to bed and he keeps patting your back to “comfort” you, all you can do is laugh…and you can’t stop

When the first thing your husband says to you in the morning is, “Can we just stay here and listen to the rain?”, you consider it

Sometimes, after a long week…Wednesdays aren’t so bad.

Even when last week felt like this
