Elle said the most adorable and heart-warming thing the other day.

She has recently developed a fascination with monsters.  Good ones and bad ones.  Ones she can play with and ones that scare her.  I have tried to think of different ways to help her deal with these monsters never knowing what type of monster she is currently imagining.

The other day we were in the car on the way home from daycare and she said there was a monster coming and sounded a bit worried so I assumed it was a mean monster.  We had a talk the previous week about what we say to the scary monsters.  I love my daughter very much but didn’t expect her to remember what we had talked about.  Sure enough, I asked her what we say to the monsters, just to see if she remembered.  Her response?  “Jesus is here.”

This was great on so many levels.  First, she remembered what we had talked about.  Second, she remembered that Jesus was there to protect her.  Third, my mom was able to be on the phone and experience the moment with us!  That doesn’t get to happen as much anymore and I LOVE it when we can share those with her.  Hopefully it makes it better and not worse.

We went to the apple orchard this last weekend as well.  We got lots of apples and had some fun.  It is still a little to warm for me to go to the orchard but oh well.  It’s for the kids, right?

Gabe enjoyed the apples…

Elle had fun picking them…

 Kyle just loves being outside…

And me?  I got to enjoy some excellent time with my hubby and kids!  Some great photos!

September has flown by and I really can’t believe that Gabe will be 1 in a little over a month!  I will have 2 toddlers! Crazy!

Gabe is pulling himself up more and more.  I’m already seeing him taking chances I’m uncomfortable with.  He’s getting a bit more daring with walking and maneuvering around in our living room.  Standing without holding on to something for a few seconds.  Moving from the table to the couch and stretching a little more than I like.  I have to let him do it though.  This is only the beginning of all things boy.  Man does that kid light up the room though.  Even when he’s serious.

He’s crawling all over the place and will only in desperate times regress to his army crawl.  He’s started eating real food this last week as well.  He had plums, carrots, and Cheerios for dinner tonight.  I felt like a good mom actually making him food instead of shoveling pre-processed food down is throat.  He never complains though.  Just like he’s dad, he’ll eat pretty much anything you give him.

Elle continues to grow.  She’s over 3 feet tall and quite the joker.  She genuinely is just a happy kid and that makes me happy.  I can’t wait for us to have a back yard for her to play it.  The kid is an adventurer at heart.  I read some where that you should dress little girls like little girls.  I say dress them how they want to dress.  Elle’s much more comfortable in her jeans and t-shirts than some flashy dress.  She’s my Euro-child.  She’s got such a style that is pretty much hers alone.  She picks out her own clothes most days.  And yes mom she does like that hat.  It’s so cute on her so I’m sure it helps that mom likes it too.

Back Home

The house is alive again!  Elle and Gabe are back and full of life.  I love my kids!

Last night we were eating dinner (spaghetti) and Elle said "Now we drink some milk."  So Mom, Dad, and Elle all took a drink of milk (Gabe was in bed already).  Dad and Elle put their milk down but I kept drinking and all of a sudden, in a really low voice, I hear "Put it down."  Milk almost shot from my nose!  I'm not sure how this started but over the weekend apparently Grandma Betty said that to Elle.  Elle felt the need to pass it on.  For the rest of the night I couldn't drink my milk!  She's such a punk...but in a good way. :)

Gabe came back sick again.  Well maybe not sick but with a cough.  Poor kid.  There might be just a bit too much dust at Grandma and Grandpa Stennes'.  He did get his 7th tooth and has started to crawl more.  He'll get really lazy sometimes and jet propel himself from his knees into his army crawl.  He'll go for a couple 'steps' though.  He's so close!  And he's gotten lots better at walking while holding our hands.  He's growing up so fast.  They BOTH are!

Gabe's birthday party planning is going really well so far too.  I'm so excited!

On that note, I must do more planning.

Empty House

Kyle and I were blessed to have Kyle's parents take the kids for the weekend.  They picked the kids up Friday night right after work so Kyle and I could go to a wedding reception.  We had a BLAST!  It was so great to just be with some good friends and relax.  The following morning, we didn't wake up until quarter to 12!!  Can't even remember the last time I did that!  Kyle said he probably had enough sleep for the next three years. :)  We kicked around the rest of the day and even went to see a movie that night!

It has been very nice to just sit for a moment here or there.  I do miss the kiddos though.  There are adorable pictures of them every where.  Kyle and I just get a kick out of sharing stories of the two of them ("You a big neminem.  I WILL EAT YOU ALL GONE!").  I am very excited to see them again tomorrow.  Last weekend Elle was gone and she seemed to have grown and inch or two over the weekend!  She came back a completely different kid!  All grown up and stuff.  My baby isn't a baby anymore.  And seriously, who can resist Gabe's smile? :)

I'm so excited!

"Bed Time"

I went in to check on the kids after we put them to bed tonight and this is what I found...

Gabe was looking out the window at the cars driving by.

Oh! He caught me with the camera. How cute!

Answered Prayer

Now I know its silly but our darling boy slept through the night again last night…FINALLY! Well, almost. He woke up at 1:30 but I was able to just pop his nuk back in and he went right back to sleep! Joy & splendor! There is no evidence of those wretched teeth yet however. I told Kyle I was going to give Gabe a bottle of Tylenol last night before bed instead of a bottle of formula in hopes of knocking him out. No worries. I didn’t. I just wanted to. It did take the kids over and hour to go to bed though. As cute as it is to see my kids playing together, bed time is not play time.

First, Kyle came home to grab some coupons before running out for some basics and when he left again I heard Elle through the monitor. “Mommy! Mommy! Daddy is home!” I had to explain to her that he was home but he had to go to the store and I would surely send him in for a goodnight kiss when he returned.

A while later…”Mommy! Mommy! Gabe has my monkey!” I went in to find Elle’s hands through the bars of Gabe’s crib to retrieve her monkey. When I asked her why she was out of bed she said it was because Gabe had her monkey. :-/ I had to explain to her that Gabe could not have reached across the room to get her monkey, unless of course she had gotten out of bed to give it to him. Goof.

Soon after that I heard another call for Mommy but no additional pleading so I stayed put. Not more than 5 seconds later Elle emerged from her room explaining that she peed in her diaper. Keep in mind she sat on her potty for more than 5 minutes before actually going to bed. The kid has magical pee I tell you! One minute its gone then next its there. So she had to sit on the potty for another 5 minutes only to produce nothing. Thanks goodness Gabe fell asleep while Elle was busy. One down; one to go.

It wasn’t much longer and Elle was out too. Man what a saga. But, they both slept through the night! Thank you Jesus! I was starting to doubt whether we should send Gabe with Elle to Kyle’s parents this weekend. As much as I was looking forward to a night out with my hubby and friends, I didn’t wish that Gabe on anyone. Of course I only got glowing reports for daycare so maybe its just home.

Oh and daycare! Jodi almost sliced the tip of her pinkie finger off on Monday which resulted in 3 stitches. Poor girl. She’s doing well now that she is all mended together and has some excellent Disney Princess band aids to cover the wound.

I’ll do my best to get photos of Elle’s weekend with Aunt Nicki up at the cabin. I saw some and they are adorable. Apparently Elle and the little boy that was up there were pretty much boyfriend/girlfriend all weekend. Holding hands and constantly chatting with each other. SO cute! So, yes, I will do my best to get some of those photos up but in the mean time here is Gabe from his weekend as a bachelor.

Playing all by himself in the tub

What IS that?

How cute is this face?

You've got something right...right there.
